Exploring La Huasteca Canyon

Saturday, August 30, 2014
The other day, after dropping mom off for work, we decided to take a quick trip to Cañon La Huasteca, a beautiful canyon just outside Santa Catarina and a must-see if you're in Monterrey. Naturally, pictures were taken! Enjoy!

Carta de amor a El Salvador / Love Letter to El Salvador

Saturday, July 26, 2014
disclaimer, this post is mostly written in spanish.
Querido El Salvador,

Al principio, yo te detestaba. ¿Por qué no teniamos todos esos productos americanos que son tan dificiles de conseguir aquí, por qué no teniamos esa historia europea tan interesante?

Summer 2014 Playlist

from tumblr

Well, summer vacation has started for us and boy, has it been great! An awesome bonus from moving is that neither my sister or I have summer homework, so we are free to spend our days however we please (or whatever the rents think is suitable). The World Cup, dance recitals, work at the kindergarten, and the bittersweet move promise that this will be an exciting summer. Without further ado, here's what has been on repeat for the sunny days:

10 Tips for Surviving Your Freshman Year of High School

Friday, June 6, 2014

So. Freshman year, huh? After getting used to the whole Middle School environment, high school can seem daunting. But do not fret! I have rounded up the best tips and advice that will make your freshman year of high school a breeze.

1. Take a deep breath.

*cue Fifteen by Taylor Swift* With all the new changes (bigger classes! More teachers! Lunch lines where you can't skip!), your anxiety levels sure can rise. But the most important tip of all, in my opinion, is to just breath. Take a minute to do deep breathing whenever you start feeling stressed, and imagine all the bad vibes leaving your mind! This is especially useful before a big test, essay, or presentation.

how to wear dungarees

Friday, May 16, 2014
htw dungarees

As part of the muumuu zine project, I decided to write a little "how to wear" for dungarees! Dungarees are basically overalls, but they usually are a little shorter. My favorite pair is the  Zara denim dungaree. It's simple, light wash, and has adorable adjustable (knotted!) straps for us shorties out there.

The Ballet Chronicles: Dream Wardrobe

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

To make it short: I have been dancing on and off ever since I was two, but starting July 2013, I settled down at  My Place Studio, in El Salvador. It's definitely small, but the teacher is amazing and I will never forget all the friends there.  However- with the move to Monterrey, I will have to start fresh and find a new studio. The Ballet Chronicles will be a small section of this blog to document that journey!

With that said, here's my dream ballet wardrobe. Tutus and tulle, oh my.

Successfully Throwing a Quinceañera (or two)

Saturday, April 26, 2014
This Tuesday was my birthday. I turned fifteen- which, in this country, is a pretty big deal. To celebrate, we had brunch at Basilea, the most darling restaurant ever (I might be a tad bit biased since we basically grew up there). It was full of friends and fun- not to mention delicious food like the best carrot cake ever and quiche- and I could not ask for anything better. My grandmother was in charge of setting up the decorations, and I provided the inspiration.

Potted flowers as centerpieces = no dying plants after a week.
I have a thing for restaurant signs. The typography is too cute to pass up.
As party favors, we dressed up little succulents- our way of celebrating the Earth!

Flowers, flowers everywhere.

the place settings. vintage fiestaware, favors, and simple white cloth.

Succulents as party favors. Also, my cursive handwriting.
The other window. It was dark outside, but there was enough light for nice pictures.
favors. again. this one's for instagram.

good drinks and even greater friends (I'm the one on the bottom left).

And, as a bonus:

Pictures from the taco night! We had a small celebration with the family that included our own DIY tassel garlands and a lovely donut birthday cake.

An Introduction.

Wednesday, April 23, 2014
Well hello there. I see you have found my little corner of the internet. Now that we have been formally introduced, let's get down to business, yeah?

I am a creative, and adore anything bright, colorful, and happy. Here you'll find posts that range anywhere from playlists to tips about school (hello, high school freshman/incoming sophomore here!). Good design and writing make me happy. My style is best described as quirky, a mish-mash of everything. As a result, this blog will fall into the "lifestyle" category.

just add san cisco in the background, a cup of cold tea, and a pom pom garland to see my creative process.

Don't be afraid to drop by and say hello in the comments! Any tips or requests are greatly appreciated!
